A fourth-generation Bowen Islander, Captain Noah brings more than a decade of fishing his home waters and an easygoing personality to Sound Bite Charters. A husband, father and youth baseball coach, he loves helping beginners land their first salmon, giving seasoned anglers room to get hands-on, and making kids part of the adventure. Expect patient guidance, local stories, plenty of laughs, and a day built around you. His favourite reward?
Seeing families celebrate together.

The best moment on Captain Noah’s boat isn’t always when the fish hits the net.
It’s what happens next: a kid beaming with pride, a first-time angler celebrating, or a family looking at each other with pure joy. That’s why he does this.
Noah’s family roots stretch back to the early 1900s, when his great-grandfather bought one of the early Union Steamship cottages in Snug Cove. Growing up here gave him a love of the outdoors, a respect for nature, and a lasting sense of responsibility for the island and its surrounding waters.
His first taste of salmon fishing came around age nine, aboard a little tin boat with his best friend’s dad. There was a hand-cranked downrigger, a sudden strike, and a scramble to fight the fish - followed by a lost salmon that jumped beside the boat. They returned without a catch, but Noah still remembers the excitement.
Years of river, lake, and ocean fishing followed. Today, he brings more than a decade of actively fishing the waters around Bowen Island to Sound Bite Charters, along with over 20 years of welcoming and working with people. After two decades of farming, he chose to build his next chapter around the ocean and sharing the place he calls home.
On board, expect an easygoing captain who takes your experience seriously. Noah plans around the conditions, your comfort, and what you want from the day. Beginners get patient guidance. Experienced anglers can get hands-on. Kids get to help choose gear and join the action. Everyone gets room to learn, laugh, and enjoy being out there.
Chinook are his favourite pursuit for their powerful fight, but the experience reaches beyond the fishing rod: mountain views, salt air, local stories, and the possibility of spotting whales moving through these waters. His respect for the ecosystem carries into careful fish handling and a thoughtful approach to every trip.
Off the water, Noah is a husband, a father, youth baseball coach, and enthusiastic LEGO builder. On the water, that same patience, playfulness, and attention to detail help turn strangers into comfortable company. Come for the fishing. Leave with a story you’ll still be telling long after you’re back on shore.
